Hollywood eco-Moonbats Praise Third World Hardship

Moonbat cum laude Cameron Diaz has teamed up with fellow Hollywood moonbat Drew Barrymore in a new MTV eco-tourism series called "Trippin'."

The program, which premiered on March 28th, features movie stars Diaz and Barrymore jet-setting and SUV-ing to Third World backwaters in Honduras, Tanzania, Nepal and Chile, while praising primitive tribal lifestyles and bashing the developed world's way of life.

During an episode of the program in which the opulent duo visited a remote village in Chile that had no running water, sanitary facilities or electricity, Diaz scolded Americans, saying, "It's kinda gotten out of hand how much convenience we think we need, " while Barrymore gushed how wonderful it was not to have had access to a toilet, "I took a poo in the woods hunched over like an animal. It was awesome," she said. Diaz, clearly looking forward to having the same quasi-religious experience, said,"I am so jealous right now, I am going -- I am going to the woods tomorrow."

While visiting the country of Bhutan, which boasts one of the world's least developed economies, Diaz said, "My favorite thing about Bhutan is they measure their country's wealth, not based on dollar amount but on gross national happiness," conveniently ignoring the not-so-happy fact that Bhutan has an extremely high infant mortality rate and a very low life expectancy rate.

Paul Dreissen, author of Eco-Imperialism: Green power/Black Death, who takes a decidedly less romantic view of Third World lifestyles than Diaz and Barrymore, had this to say in reference to their MTV series:

"There's something perverse and immoral when multi-millionaire Hollywood celebrities head off on junkets in the jungle - and then preach to us lesser mortals about the joys of the simple life, and how we should protect the Earth, conserve energy, prevent global warming, and help the poorest people on our planet continue 'enjoying' their poverty, malnutrition and premature death.

Life in these developing countries is still nasty, brutish and short. And that there is a reason our parents and grandparents worked so hard to create modern homes and hospitals and technologies, so they could leave behind the unsafe water, dung fires, pollution, rotted teeth, infant mortality and life expectancies half of ours. This entire MTV series totally glosses over the hardships and premature death that is right before their eyes. Even mentioning these facts would obviously get in the way of their ideological message, and their determination to turn [MTV viewers] into little ventriloquist's dummies for the sustainable development movement,"

Perhaps Diaz and Barrymore should consider scrapping Trippin' for a new "reality" show in which they both swap lifestyles with two Third World families for one year.

Yep, there's nothing better for a career, then being associated with "poopie"!

Drew poos, Cammy coos ... how perfectly blue! BTW, where's Lucy Liu?

After the Charlies Angels embarassment, at least career damage isn't a concern
