Accessory in Attempted Murder in Berkeley treated with Mysterious PC Kid Gloves

What began as a simply attempted murder in Berkeley has now morphed into a story of political correctness in the nation's whackiest town.

On March 18 an elderly woman had her throat cut in a park up in the lovely bourgeois Berkeley Hills, the area where high-tech electronic alert systems are combined with the de rigueur recycling creche on the lawn tailored by the Mexican gardeners. An elderly woman, walking home with her husband from a class at the University of California, was grabbed from behind by a young woman who had just walked past her on the sidewalk. In a flash, her throat was slit to the bone. As she spurted blood, the suspect drove off with her companion, another young woman, in a light blue BMW M3 convertible, a favorite of Bay area limousine liberals.

The victim miraculously survived. Later the evening of the crime, a suspect was apprehended, a sixteen year old juvenile, whose name has been withheld from the press. The local student press revealed the slasher was a county worker, on paid administrative leave. But that left her companion, the driver of the BMW, who helped her make her getaway. The Oakland Tribune reports that this turns out to be Hamaseh Kianfar, 30, from Marin County, the owner of the BMW convertible used to get away from the scene of the crime.

A bit strangely, she was not arrested when her vehicle was identified and police were obviously treating her with kid gloves, despite her changing her story over and over. The special treatment of Kianfar continues. Kianfar was not booked, fingerprinted or photographed by Oakland police. Despite the no-bail condition of the warrant issued for her arrest, Kanfar was released on $15,000 bail. Kianfar had never reported the crime on her own initiative.

The American Thinker reports that she is the daughter of the wealthy co-founders of the International Association of Sufism, headquartered in Marin County, and an attendee at UN-sponsored conference on "Global Solidarity: The Way to Peace and International Cooperation." The International Association of Sufism is one among many organizations related in various ways to the Moslem Sufi religious practice in the United States.

What's your point?

Sufism is the mystical sect of Islam. It is much persecuted by other sects. The woman's father is Sufi. So what? Find out what her affinities are. I'd bet she's connected with some Wahhabi mosque or imam. It's important for Americans to learn about these distinctions.

ALL muslims are suspect until they prove otherwise. It is for Islam to fix itself not for others to 'figure it out'. Let's hear the muslims condemn these outrages NOW

Gee, that's a great viewpoint.

I agree with Alan - find out what was going through her head, and not her father's.

But I'm wondering if this sort of attack would really have anything to do with the wahabbi lobby. It sounds more like another sign of the times - did razor gangs ever need a reason?

She should not have been let go regardless of religion. There is a
distinct problem in the media. They
are reluctant to identify Muslims
in Crime stories even when religion
may be central to the case.

The murder at the LAX is a story that vanished. The suspect wasn't identified because he might be
Hispanic. There are a string of similar stories and they were on
Pipes excellent website.

I am quoting Daniel Pipes, the scholar of Islam, when I say ALL muslims are suspect: danielpipes.org. It's not just the MSM who are silent- too many muslims are not condemning murder and hate in their religion's name.

Well, that's still a great viewpoint, and you're welcome to it.

Naturally, no one should be (or is) suspect merely on the basis of his or her religion, in the U.S., at least. But if this Sufi is the owner of the getaway car in this heinous crime, ought not she be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, regardless of her religious affiliation?

There is such a fear of appearing to prosecute somebody on the basis of Islamic affiliation in this country, especially in liberal redoubts like Marin County, that we run the risk of politically correct discrimination. If the owner of the getaway car was a black working-class man, do you think he would have been allowed out on bail?

I would want to look into what the relationship between the counselor and the slasher was. All in all the soft glove treatment of the counselor stinks to high heaven
