Is CBS a Shill for the Left?

Need we ask? David Horowitz's academic freedom campaign has been roaring away at full throttle for a year and a half. Never has CBS deigned to cover our campaign in anything like a sympathetic or even objective fashion. But they have finally decided to cover it.

CBSNews.com yesterday published a hit piece on David Horowitz, Students for Academic Freedom and, indeed, on the whole notion of fostering intellectual diversity in our universities. The hit piece – penned by arch-leftist UCLA history professor Russell Jacoby – first appeared in the Marxist journal The Nation on March 16 (upon which it was deftly "deconstructed" on this blog by Moonbatter Jacob Laksin).

The (Inevitable) Soros Connection

That CBS went to The Nation in search of pick-up talent speaks volumes about the broadcast network's ideological skew. Long a bastion of the hard, Marxist left in America, The Nation has become increasingly identified in recent years with the interests and agenda of leftwing billionaire George Soros, who is a major donor to The Nation Institute.

Hamilton Fish V – the "red sheep" of a wealthy Republican family – is president of The Nation Institute and also serves as a close aide to George Soros. Fish sits on the board of Soros' Open Society Institute.

MSNBC blogger and long-time Nation columnist Eric Alterman now moonlights as a senior fellow at the Soros-backed Center for American Progress. Alterman's exertions on behalf of the Soros machine manifest themselves on the pages of The Nation in such ugly hatchet work as, "The Soros Slander Campaign Continues."
