Exposing the Ivory Gulags
When Natan Sharansky talks about leftist totalitarianism he knows what he is talking about. He was jailed for nine years by the Soviet regime, part of the time in solitary. He is today Israel's minister of Jerusalem and diaspora affairs.
Sharansky has been a leading voice promoting the notion of democratizing as the solution to Islamofascism in the Middle East. But he has other totalitarian fish to fry. Yesterday he suggested to a daylong gathering at Columbia University yesterday that theway in which the Middle East is studied and taught at Columbia and otherschools reminds him of Soviet-era propaganda. Middle East scholar Martin Kramer, speaking to the same group, said the field is corrupted by a culture of"inbreeding," in which competing ideas that conflict with the dominant strand, symbolized by the work of the Columbia scholar Edward Said, are muffled. The tenure of Columbia's president, Lee Bollinger, "will be judgedby the success or failure" of his attempt to change the makeup of the Mealacdepartment, Mr. Kramer said.
Columbia of course is not the only part of the Ivory Gulag under attack. Moonbat Central yesterday revealed that Betsy Hoffman, the cheerleader Prez at the University of Colorado, is being forced to resign. Berkeley has been seeking balance to the Moslem anti-Israel radicals on campus by hosting Israeli Jewish anti-Israel extremists.
Other university presidents and officials must also be held accountable for the hiring, tenure, and promotion of far Leftist moonbats whose entire academic record consists of political propaganda and Marxist diatribes. Advocacy propaganda is not scholarly research. Leftist university officials treat it as if it were. And because there are so many leftists inside the system, they collaborate with one another in the recruitment of new leftists with laughable academic records. True, some of the far Leftists actually have bona fide academic publication records. Pol Pot's favorite professor at MIT comes to mind.
But these are the rare exceptions!

Thanks for the link. I had a class with one of your nemeses, Oren Yiftachel; an interesting guy, certainly anti-Zionist but not altogether a tyrant Ward Churchill style. The problem of Leftist domination of the university is less of an issue in Israel, but we certainly have our share of Moonbats.

One university in Canada is in thrall to the Islamists, thanks to the unholy alliance between the Islamists and the student left, and that is Concordia U. in Montreal. And there is little will or direction from the faculty or trustees to rid themselves of this cancer - no leadership.What a shame !
The Israel and America bashing is reaching absurd levels. There is no attention paid to rampant repression in Arab societies. A trip to freedom house shows Israel is freer than Turkey. A comparison between Israel and Iran or Syria is comedic.

The meeting was at 7:00, right after the VRWC meeting. The Jewish conspirators discussed new methods of mind control and world conquest. Karl Rove and a few Halliburton operatives were there, arranging the Stealing Iraqi Oil liason between the Zionists and the VRWC. Cookies and lemonade were served.
