Hillary: Let Felons Vote

Senator Hillary Clinton on Thursday called for making Election Day a federal holiday, and for legislation that would allow all ex-felons everywhere to vote.

She supports these proposals for an obvious reason: both would improve the victory prospects of Democratic Party candidates such as herself.

Who gets the day off on federal holidays? Not small businesspeople, nor workers for most private companies. But almost all federal, state, county and city government employees (except the military) do, and these folks who get paid out of our taxes with government checks are more likely than the rest of us to vote for the party of Big Government, the Democratic Party. Giving only government employees Election Days off would tilt the electoral board in their favor.

As for felons, analyses following the 2000 election found that approximately 10,000 convicted felons violated Florida law by voting there. Of these two-time (or more) lawbreakers, approximately 8,500 were registered as Democrats. But because we have a secret ballot, it was impossible to extract and throw out their illegal votes, 85 percent of which presumably went to Democratic candidate Al Gore.

Why should it surprise us that those who believe they are entitled to rape, rob and kill the rest of us would gravitate to the political party that advocates expropriating the income of Americans who work honestly for a living? As Hillary Clinton arrogantly told a San Francisco audience in June 2004, "We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good."

Senator Clinton, like other left Democratic Party activists, also favors giving the vote to those in mental asylums. It’s easy to guess why: most will vote with the help of mostly-government-employed social workers who in many cases will actually mark their ballots. Let’s be honest enough to acknowledge that most who vote for Democrats do so out of greed, ignorance or insanity.

Imagine a future where politicians must pander – and tailor their promises and policies – to win the votes of criminals and crazies.

What kind of government would that produce? Answer: the very kind of government the Democratic Party now advocates. Felons have been allowed to vote even by absentee ballot from their prison cells in Senator John F. Kerry’s Massachusetts and in Howard Dean's & socialist Rep. Bernie Sanders' Vermont, two of the four states that have allowed this.

(As Jay Leno noted Thursday night, Senator Clinton's proposal would also let her and her husband's crooked friends continue to vote for her.)

By the way, if Senator Clinton would restore the “right to vote” to those convicted of committing felonies, would she also restore their Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms? In many states convicted felons, even half a century after completing their prison term for a non-violent crime, are forever prohibited from buying or possessing a gun. Oh, I forgot – Senator Clinton believes that nobody except her Secret Service bodyguards should be allowed to own firearms, the Bill of Rights notwithstanding. When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have the vote in her utopia.

I thought that the cunstution prevented felons from voting. Oh, sorry, I forgot. That is not the part of the constitution that they ( the Lib's ) choose to obey. If it's bad for America then it's good for the Dem's.

If we Americans allow our officials to be elected by felons,
dead-beats and those who rely on some governmental agency for their livlihood...shame on us.

Hmm, as a federal employee I resent the "would vote Democrat" argument. As do the vast majority of the DOD civil service employees I assure you. Many federal employees vote for what is good for the country, not just what might be good for them. The private sector doesn't hold the monopoly on patriotism and self-sacrifice.

Plus, virtually all federal supervisors allow their employees off to vote anyway, so I don't see a holiday as adding any to the rolls.

Of course, you are correct as to her motives - she hopes that federal employees will vote her way as well as all those convicts she now loves.
