Churchill's Counterpunch Fan

Over the past two weeks the far-Leftist, anti-American, Anti-Semitic web site of Alexander Cockburn, Counterpunch, has turned into something of a one-issue web magazine. Counterpunch, which claims to have 60,000 readers a day, which would be about a 50th of the readership of Frontpage Magazine if it were true, has run over a dozen articles supporting the Psycho Ward, that is Ward Churchill, the bin Laden groupie from the University of Colorado. What is amazing is that these articles are NOT simple defenses of Churchill’s right to express crackpot treasonous ideas, all in the name of free speech absolutism. Every single one of the pro-Churchill pieces by the Cockburn crew on Counterpunch has been open endorsement and support of the CONTENTS of Churchill’s articles and statements, agreeing that – yes – Americans are all little nazis and they deserved the 9-11 attacks.

Now it is interesting to see who exactly these Cockburn groupies are. Take for example one of the Counterpunch regulars, one Kurt Nimmo. Aside from running his own personal weblog, which is even more anti-American and anti-Semitic than the rantings of Churchill, Nimmo has run diatribes on Counterpunch endorsing North Korea’s defiance of Bush (“No matter how you cut it, Dubya has painted himself into a corner. He may yet go on record as the most ill-advised and murderous US president.”), denouncing liberals as being Nazis for not being anti-American enough (“Democrats out there: come November, when you vote for Kerry, you will be voting for mass murder and flagrant violation of international law. Like the Good Germans of Nazi Germany, you will be guilty of supporting crimes against humanity.”), denouncing America’s defensive moves against terror (“Bush's fraudulent terror alerts endeavor to convince America that ‘sufficient threat’ exists to such a perilous degree from a largely mythical al-Qaeda …but a wholesale decimation of the Bill of Rights is also in order.”), and of course the usual anti-Jewish canards (“Bush and Rumsfeld are promoting Zionist racism.”) He also claims the US and Israel killed Hariri this past week.

Regarding Churchill, Cap’n Nimmo wrote in Counterpunch: “I must say that I agree with Churchill: the financial and government institutions housed in the WTC, including the CIA, most certainly did employ "technocrats" comparable to Adolf Eichmann." He is echoed in Counterpunch by Carolyn Baker, who makes the same point.

SO who exactly is this clown Nimmo? What are his credentials and qualifications that entitle him to be selected by Alex as one of the great spokescritters for the thinking Left?

Turns out that Nimmo, who likes to claim he has some connection with New Mexico State University, is a local photographer who occasionally snaps some shots for the campus newsletter, but other than that works in the photo development desk at a local Walmart. We could find no evidence on the web that he had ever been a student at New Mexico State, nor for that matter even graduated high school.

Anyone ever see the Robin Williams flick about such a guy?
