Brenda Sandburg is one of three directors of the Progress Unity Fund (PUF), a 501(c)3 organization closely affiliated with the Workers World Party (WWP), a Marxist-Leninist vanguard aligned with North Korea. Examination of the PUF's public tax returns reveals that all of the organization's grants go to WWP front organizations such as the International Action Center and International ANSWER. Moreover, the PUF's directors are either closely tied to the WWP or are full WWP members. Sandburg has written for Workers World Party's own weekly newspaper, Workers World; many of her articles admonish the U.S. for imposing sanctions on the Communist dictatorship of Cuba.
