Nation of Islam (NOI) leader Louis Farrakhan has a long, well-documented history of venom-laced references to the “white devils” and Jewish “bloodsuckers” who purportedly decimate America's black community from coast to coast. He has referred to Judaism as a “gutter religion,” and to Adolf Hitler as “a great man” -- though he later claimed that he had meant only that Hitler was “wickedly great.” He has characterized “the white man” as the “anti-Christ”; charged that there is a “conspiracy of our government against the black male”; stated that “a decree of death has been passed on America,” which, in “the judgment of God, … must be destroyed”; declared that “there is no wicked nation in the past that approaches the evil that is practiced in America on a daily basis”; referred to white people as “potential humans” who “haven’t evolved yet”; and impugned whites as “vicious beasts” and “the skunks of the planet.”
In 1995 Barack Obama -- along with such notables as Al Sharpton and Jeremiah Wright -- helped organize the Farrakhan’s famous Million Man March in Washington, DC. Said Obama in the immediate aftermath of that event:
Farrakhan is a longtime friend of Jeremiah Wright, who served as Barack Obama’s pastor at Trinity United Church of Christ from 1988 to 2008. Wright has praised Farrakhan “as one of the 20th and 21st century giants of the African American religious experience,” and a man whose “integrity and honesty have secured him a place in history as one of the nation's most powerful critics.” Wright accompanied Farrakhan on a 1984 trip to meet with Farrakhan’s friend, the Libyan dictator Muammar Qadhafi.
Farrakhan is also a longtime friend and ideological comrade of Michael Pfleger, who serves as pastor of Chicago’s Saint Sabina Catholic Church and has been described by Barack Obama as a spriritual advisor.
