Rosie O'Donnell Back on Primetime TV?

By James Hirsen
July 29, 2008

Former “View” co-host Rosie O’Donnell, who a while back was jettisoned from the broadcast airwaves, may be back on the Peacock Network in prime time.

O'Donnell’s hit daytime talk show was on NBC from 1996 to 2002.

You may remember that back in 2007, NBC’s cable outlet, MSNBC, was flirting with Rosie doing some kind of talk show. The deal never happened.

On her bizarre Web blog, O’Donnell claimed that MSNBC panicked because news of the deal had leaked out.

“2day there is no deal,” O’Donnell wrote, adding “Poof . . . my career as a pundit is over before it began.”

It’s anybody’s guess as to whether Rosie was referring to the cable network, shareholders of parent company General Electric, or some other nervous Nellie that panicked.

Sources indicate that NBC execs are once again talking to O’Donnell about producing a variety show of some sort.

Today’s variety shows are typically variations on reality models like “America’s Got Talent,” “So You Think You Can Dance,” and “Last Comic Standing.”

How about one of these for Rosie: “America’s Got Radicals,” “So You Think You Can Rant,” or “Last Kook Standing?”
