MoveOn.org Makes Hollywood Connection

By James Hirsen
September 18, 2007

MoveOn.org has had an alliance with Hollywood of the unholy kind for a long time.

With financing provided by The New York Times, the far-left organization recently slandered one of the military’s finest, Gen. David Petraeus, by way of an ad in the Times.

Tinsetowners failed to speak out against the shameful ad even after lefty kindred spirits John Kerry and Nancy Pelosi did.

In a past MoveOn/Hollywood collaboration, the group was key to Michael Moore’s success. In June 2004 it prodded its members to pledge to buy tickets to Moore’s flagrant propaganda flick “Fahrenheit 9/11.” Over 100,000 of the zany zealots signed on.

To boost Moore’s screen count, MoveOn asked its members to send e-mails to movie theaters expressing support for the film fabrication. And it distributed leaflets at venues all over the country inviting people to house parties featuring a Moore online conference call to double talk about the flick.

MoveOn's Eli Pariser told Variety, “When I went to Waterville, Maine and asked how many people from MoveOn were there, probably three-quarters of the people there said yes.”

No surprise that the group tried to resuscitate “Sicko,” Moore’s recent box-office flop.

“Michael Moore's new movie 'Sicko' could put healthcare at the top of the nation's political agenda — and we can help,” MoveOn’s Web site told its members, adding, “If opening week is a success, lots more people will go see 'Sicko.'”

Thankfully, it wasn’t and folks didn’t.

Back in July 2004 Hollywood actors, writers, and directors joined with MoveOn to campaign against President Bush. Ed Asner, Danny Glover, Al Franken, Kevin Bacon, Margaret Cho, Woody Harrelson, Scarlett Johansson, Alicia Silverstone, Rob Reiner, Errol Morris, and Aaron Sorkin wrote, directed, and starred in TV spots for MoveOnPAC.

And in Spring 2007, conspiracy buff Oliver Stone directed an anti-war commercial for MoveOn. The message was: “Tell Congress: Support Our Troops, Bring Them Home.”

“Like in Vietnam,” Stone told CNN, “We are reaping a harvest of death and shame around the world.”
